We are working in close partnership with a well-established, private equity-backed energy services business on a key strategic appointment.
They are looking to appoint a Head of Business Development & Strategic Projects to play a central role in how the business delivers and executes its growth strategy. Based in Aberdeen, this role has a global remit and works closely with senior leadership across international operations
This is not a traditional sales role. It is about developing and delivering strategic growth initiatives, taking opportunities from idea through to launch and early scale, and ensuring they are successfully embedded into the business. Key Responsibilities
• Identify and develop new growth opportunities across markets, sectors, and services
• Build clear, commercially sound business cases to support investment decisions
• Translate approved priorities into structured delivery plans with defined milestones and outcomes
• Lead strategic initiatives from concept through to launch and early delivery
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across commercial, operations, finance, and technical areas
• Design and manage pilots to test commercial viability and inform scale decisions
• Track delivery against milestones, timelines, and expected outcomes
• Ensure successful initiatives are transferred into line ownership with clear accountability
• Support selected integration and partnership initiatives where required
• Stop or reshape initiatives where they are not delivering sufficient value

Key Skills

    What You Will Bring
    • Experience in business development, strategy, or commercial project delivery roles
    • A proven track record of taking growth initiatives from idea through to execution
    • Experience working across functions and influencing senior stakeholders
    • Strong commercial and financial judgement
    • The ability to operate with pace and structure in complex environments
    • Experience building business cases and delivering against them
    • A practical, hands-on approach with a focus on delivery and outcomes
    Experience within energy, industrial, or engineering environments is helpful, but not essential.
